Mike Lanning – ICP324

It is with great pain and a heavy heart that Incident Command Page of Arizona announces the loss of Mike Lanning, ICP324.  Mike was found after the holiday weekend, deceased in his apartment by a neighbor.  It appears that he passed away during the weekend.  The cause of death is not known at this time.

Mike was a valuable part of Incident Command Page as he was a wild land fire expert that was always timely and accurate with his numerous wild land fire pages that he sent along with the countless other local agency pages.  Mike was a certified Wildland Firefighter and a State of Arizona Certified Paramedic who worked on numerous campaign fires throughout Arizona and the Southwest.  Mike had numerous contacts throughout the wild fire community ranging from fellow firefighters, Chiefs, Public Information Officers, local fire agencies throughout the state and nation.  Mike was also a certified chef.

Mike had moved to the valley a short time ago from northern Arizona where he did a wide range of community volunteer service including a paid call firefighter.  Mike, with his great heart and willingness to help anyone, was always willing to stop and assist whenever he came across a incident whether it was assisting with patient care or assisting with traffic control or setting up an LZ for helicopter transport.

Mike is survived by a son and daughter, mother and sister along with his beloved Saint Bernard.
